TONY
DONOVAN
While looking for a new hobby, Tony decided to take up oil
painting under the guidance of Copley artist, William St George, he has
been painting ever since. Over the past 25 years, he participated in a
number of workshops in Rockport, MA, Woodstock CT, Ogunquit, ME.,
Sedona, AZ and Paris, France. His
work has been included in multiple juried exhibits and galleries,
including Cape Cod Art Center, Sedona (AZ) Art Association, the North
Shore Art Association, Lime (CN) Art Association and the Foxboro and
Duxbury Art Associations, as well as the Sandwich Arts Alliance.
Whether
he is observing nature in his own back yard or a busy market scene while
on vacation, he has an urge to capture the moments that resonate for
him. His work is just as likely to feature a rodeo rider as it is to
capture a peaceful estuary at twilight. He is especially excited by
scenes which may include vintage vehicles in an Arizona junk yard,
typical Cape Cod architecture, or rusty fishing boats.
Tony
is also drawn to scenes which show strong contrast of light and color.
Having been influenced by the Impressionists, he interprets these scenes
of everyday life in a way which will bring back fond memories to the
viewer. His paintings are about his experiences and how he wants to
remember them.
He is a member of the Board
of Directors of the Sandwich Arts Alliance and he is a juried artist
member of the Cape Cod Art Center.
